Dear Parents & Guardians: We are very happy to welcome your child to our church’s Sunday School program this year!
Classes begin this September 11th with a NEW TIME of 10:00am – 10:30am. For your convenience here are the scheduled dates for the 2022-23 school year. Click here for the Calendar. Classes will be held on the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise noted in the above calendar. All children are to meet their teachers downstairs at 10:00am, and then will return upstairs at 10:30am to listen to the Gospel Reading and participate in our Divine Liturgy. Preschool children will meet their parents in the Narthex (where we light our candles and where our bookstore is also located), while Level 1 and older may sit in the pews reserved for Sunday School. After communion, your child will not return downstairs unless announced in advance and are therefore free to carry out the day with you.
- Preschool (ages 3-5)
- Level 1 (ages 6-8)

Our goals for this year:
This year’s main focus and the overall theme is The 12 Great Feasts of the Church. Refer to the attached document for you and your child that can be used for discussions at home. Reinforcement is key at any developmental age, so please feel inspired to engage in conversations with your child about Sunday School and The 12 Great Feasts of the Church, and likewise please feel comfortable chatting with us Sunday School teachers for ideas on how to do so. Click here for the 12 Feast Days document.
In addition to learning and understanding our Gospel Readings, each Level will practice learning the following prayer:
- Preschool – Lord Have Mercy
- Level 1 – The Lord’s Prayer
- Level 2 – The Creed
- Level 3/Teen Talk – familiarization with Psalms and daily scriptures
The students will be taught prayers in English; however, a copy is provided in Greek below. We encourage you to recite prayers in whatever language(s) feels natural; reciting prayers with your child will help them learn them and feel comfortable saying them out loud.
We want you all to know that we appreciate the opportunity to work with you in bringing the spirit and message of Our Lord Jesus Christ into the heart and life of your beloved child.
Thank you + God Bless,
Your St. Demetrios Sunday School Teachers
